How to Buy a Used Laptop or MacBook Safely in the GCC

By Editorial Team6 min read

What to check before paying: specs, battery cycles, activation locks and the fair price compared with new.

Check before you pay

Spend ten minutes on these checks:

  • Processor, RAM and storage match the listing
  • Battery health or cycle count
  • No activation or firmware lock (for MacBooks, Find My is off)
  • Keyboard, ports, speakers, camera and screen all work

Is the price fair?

Compare with the current new price in the Price Guide. A used laptop that costs almost as much as a new one with warranty is rarely a good deal.
